By using a groove inside the cylinder, the damping characteristics of this gas spring specification can be adapted individually to the customers’ requirements.
Here, the damping is not realized by an orifice as for usual gas springs but by the groove inside the cylinder. This offers many advantages: Damping is effective in any position, it doesn’t matter if the installation of the gas spring is in horizontal position or with the piston rod showing upwards.

Gas spring with dynamic damping

These gas springs with full-stroke damping have been specially developed for the protection of delicate products, such as Forklift glass door,LCD screens, expensive high-tech equipment, technical machines, and medical equipment. The gas springs are available in the sizes 6/15, 6/19, 6/22, 8/19, 8/22, and 10/22.
Compared to standard gas springs that only have controlled oil damping at the end of the stroke, these gas springs provide full-stroke damping. The desired damping properties are applied in the form of a tapered groove completely to customer specifications. This tapered groove is filled with oil as soon as the piston rod enters or exits.
The groove will be designed so that the damping characteristic will meet the customer’s individual requirements.
- End damping is guaranteed in any position (horizontally or with the piston rod showing upwards)
- Individual damping characteristic is possible for the complete stroke

Cylinder

ROD
